Due to business expansion, we are seeking a HV/ Grid Engineer, PH to be based in the Philippines, reporting to Associate Director, Electrical Engineering in the Utility Scale department. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervising and overseeing the daily electrical operation of the project, ensuring that the LR’s specifications and requirements are met, reviewing progress and liaising with the Associate Director, Electrical Engineering to monitor costs 
  • Supporting project development in permitting processes and connection with utility services and administration 
  • Creating and managing the electrical designs in upstream phases (collection system, electrical networks, grid connection TL, substation…) and technical inputs for the technical, civil designs for the wind and solar projects 
  • Managing consultants including but limited to electrical design, grid connection, … in support of Development and Construction Activity 
  • Managing suppliers (transformers, power cables…) and contractors related to the electrical scope and electrical interfaces 
  • Coordinating the electrical design and engineering activities with the prime objective of ensuring construction activities according to design, specification with the support of the Owner Engineer (if any) 
  • Responsible for preparing bidding documents, evaluating bids, bid evaluated reports and participating in drafting, negotiating, signing contracts 
  • Calculating the estimated cost of tenders to ensure that the contract cost is optimized 
  • Taking responsibility, monitoring and checking legal documents and procedures during development/construction phases and ensuring the project is granted COD license on time after construction is completed 
  • Coordinating with the external community (client and technical representatives), utility, NGCP, local authorities, and internal client (PM) to ensure approvals are obtained on time 
  • Coordinating the team schedules, ensuring adequate coverage 
  • Coordinating and supervising the electrical consultants/ contractors with the team 
  • Making safety/ environmentally inspections to ensure the site standard is according LR requirement’s 
  • Checking and preparing site reports, reviewing designs and drawings 
  • Maintaining quality control procedures 
  • Finding ways to prevent problems and to solve any that crop up, assessing and minimizing risk 
  • Performing other support activities necessary for project development purposes 
  • Helping to negotiate contracts and secure permits and licenses 
  • Supporting the Engineering team for other development tasks requested by managers 

Ideal candidate should possess

  • Undergraduate/ University Degree in electrical engineering 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in design/ supervisory/ construction energy projects (Power plants/Substation and transmission lines) is required 
  • Understanding the National/ International standards; Requirement of NGCP, DOE and authorities for Power plant/ Power grid projects is a must 
  • Understanding the existing/ planned power systems in the Philippines 
  • Working experience with project/ contract management and electrical contractor/ integrator is a required 
  • Intermediate skills in Electrical cost planning, cost estimating and analysis 
  • Good knowledge of electrical equipment and materials, construction/ installation methods and regulations  
  • Problem-solving skills 
  • Having on-site experience installing/ supervising/ inspecting energy projects 
  • Understanding of regulations and technical requirements for electrical parts in the renewable energy projects 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks 
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills, excellent communication skills, personable, team player 
  • High proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point, Project), CAD required 
  • Motivated and self-starter is a plus 
  • Willingness to learn, train and develop new skills
