Lucy Heintz
Partner and Head of Energy Infrastructure, Actis

Lucy is Head of Energy Infrastructure and Fund Head for Actis Energy Fund 5 (AE5). She has over 25 years’ experience investing in and managing power businesses. Lucy has led or been involved in deals across South Africa, Kenya, Brazil, Senegal, Egypt, Mozambique, Chile, Ghana, India, Nigeria and Tanzania.

Lucy sits on our Energy Infrastructure Investment Committee and currently serves as Chair for Actis’ Inclusion and Diversity Committee, and Board Chair of Lekela and Aela Energia, two of Actis’ renewable energy platforms.

Prior to becoming Head of Energy Infrastructure in 2021 and Fund Head of Actis Energy 5 in 2020, Lucy was responsible for the Energy Infrastructure Teams activities in Africa (2017 to 2020) and renewable energy generation globally (2010 to 2017). Her time at Actis also includes five years of operational experience as a Project Director at Globeleq, a Fund 1 and Fund 2 portfolio company, in the business development team.

Prior to joining CDC, Actis’ predecessor organisation, in 2001, Lucy worked at UBS Warburg (1994 to 1999) as a Director in the fixed income division, latterly trading emerging market local currency bonds and interest rate derivatives in the South African, Czech and Greek markets.

Lucy holds an MA (Hons) degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) from Trinity College, Oxford and an MBA degree (with distinction) from INSEAD. She has four daughters and lives in the north of England.

Barry Lynch
Partner and Head of Operations, Energy Infrastructure, Actis

Barry joined Actis in 2016 as Head of Energy Operations.

Prior to Actis he spent 8 years with Mainstream Renewable Power as Managing Director of Procurement, Construction and Operations with responsibility for delivering large scale wind and solar projects through the equity structuring, project financing and construction phases into operation in Europe, North America, Latin America and Africa.

He was an executive director and board member at Mainstream and sat on the boards of two Actis Energy portfolio companies (Lekela Power and Aela Energia) in which Mainstream is a minority partner. Barry was also involved in the development of Actis Energy investee company Globeleq Africa, within the renewable energy side of the business focused on South Africa.

Prior to joining Mainstream Barry spent 8 years with ESB International and was involved in the construction and operation of large-scale thermal power plants. He undertook a number of roles including Group Safety Manager and Operations Manager for Asia with responsibility for 4 power plants in Pakistan and Malaysia.

Barry holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dublin Institute of Technology.

Rahul Agrawal
Head of Energy for Southeast Asia, Actis

Rahul is the Head of Energy business for Southeast Asia and is based in the Singapore office.

He joined Actis in 2012 and has been involved in several of Actis’ energy infra investments in Asia and across the entire lifecycle of deal origination to portfolio management to exits.

In India, he was involved in the two renewable energy platform investments of Actis namely Ostro Energy and Sprng Energy, the two Indian renewable businesses set up and exited by Energy Fund 3 and Energy Fund 4 respectively wherein Actis invested more than US$750mn across these two platforms to establish more than 3GW+ of operating wind and solar capacity.

He has been leading the origination and execution activities for Southeast Asia energy sector for Actis since 2016, consummating in formation of two power platforms in the region namely Levanta Renewables (Actis Energy 5’s Southeast Asia focussed renewable power platform with a commitment of US$500m) and Bridgin Power (Actis Energy Fund 5’s Asia gas power platform with a commitment of US$400m).

Rahul has a total of 18 years of experience spanning across infrastructure and energy private equity, project finance, investment banking and advisory.

Prior to joining Actis, Rahul worked with ICICI Venture as an Associate Vice President in their infrastructure private equity team and previously with a mezzanine fund of IL&FS

Rahul holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, post graduate degree in management and operations from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and an MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore.

Thuy Dam
Non-Executive Board Member, Levanta Renewables

Thuy is a Non-Executive Board Member of Levanta Renewables and is based in Hanoi.

From 2015 to 2023, Thuy served as the Founding President of Fulbright University Vietnam, the first not-for-profit, private, independent university in Vietnam inspired by the American liberal arts education system.

From 1996-2005, Thuy served as Director, Project Finance for ANZ Banking Group Limited in Singapore where she covered several sectors, including power, water, oil and gas, mining, and petrochemicals.  In 2005 she returned to Vietnam as CEO of ANZ Vietnam Limited, operating in retails, wholesale and capital markets. From 2005 to 2013, she also served as CEO of the Mekong Region.

Thuy holds an MBA from Wharton School of Business where she was a Fulbright Scholar.

Sudhir Nunes
Founder and CEO, Levanta Renewables

Sudhir is the Founder and CEO of Levanta Renewables and is based in Danang, Vietnam.

Sudhir has been actively involved with energy innovation for over 20 years and has a proven track record in development, financing, EPC and asset management / O&M of energy technology and management of high growth renewable energy companies across diverse geographies and cultures in Asia, Europe, and America.

He has previously served as CEO Wind Business at Orange Renewable, a renewable energy IPP headquartered in New Delhi, India. Sudhir led Orange Renewable’s wind platform growth from zero to a 2 GW renewable energy development pipeline in Asia including 0.8 GW operating and under construction and in 2018 delivered a successful exit to Orange’s investors in one of the largest renewables transactions to date in India.

Prior to his time at Orange Renewable, Sudhir has held various positions within the energy industry, including spending almost 4 years at Gamesa (now Siemens Gamesa) where he managed the commercialization and industrialization of the largest onshore wind turbine in North America at the time.

Sudhir holds a bilingual MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

Ravi Chandran
Industry Advisor, Levanta Renewables

Ravi is an Industry Advisor of Levanta Renewables and is based in Singapore.

Ravi has been actively involved in the power & and utility sectors for over 33 years and has a proven track record in managing platforms, business development, project development, debt financing, construction, asset management, and M&A across South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

He has previously served as CEO of Nexif Ratch Energy Investment (“Nexif”), a renewable energy IPP headquartered in Singapore. Ravi led Nexif’s platform growth to include 4 GW of renewable energy projects across Southeast Asia and Australia, comprising of both operating and under development assets.

Prior to his time at Nexif, Ravi has held various positions within the energy industry, including 12 years at AES Corporation where he led business development efforts in Sri Lanka, India, Dubai and Vietnam, and 6 years at Reliance Industries where he managed various projects.

Ravi is a graduate of the AES Executive Leadership Program from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, and also holds a post graduate Diploma in financial management from Annamalai University and Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Nagpur University in India.
